1. Log into Facebook
2. Go to https://developers.facebook.com/
3. Click on Apps -> Register as a Developer
4. Accept Facebook policy and click next
5. Input your phone number and click Send as Text or Phone Call
6. Enter Confirmation code and click Register -> then click done to complete registration
7. Now, click on Apps -> Add a New App
8. For Social Publisher/Social Connect/Social Stream/Social Media Importer, select Website. For Contact Importer, select Facebook Canvas

9. click on Website
10. Type in your app name and click on Create New Facebook App ID
11. A popup appears. Select category of your app and click confirm
12. Scroll down to the bottom, you’ll see 2 fields :
- Site url
- Mobile Site url
13. Input your site’s url in these fields and click next
14. Scroll further down and you’ll see the next steps box, click “Skip to Developer Dashboard”
15. On the app dashboard, click on “show” next to app secret. A popup appears asking you to enter your password in order to reveal this info
16. Copy and paste AppID and App secret into respective fields in social bridget settings of Facebook
17. On app dashboard page, click on “Status & Review”, Set your app to live
18. For Social Connect, you’re done here
19. For Social Publisher, Social Media Importer, and Social Stream, you need to apply for extra permissions in order to get content from Facebook
- On your app page, click on Status & Review menu on the left hand side menu.
- Click on start a submission. In the popup window,
- For social media importer: select user_photos and click add items
- For social publiser: select publish_actions and click add items
- For social stream: select read_stream and click add items
- Click on the red triangle next permissions that you want to apply for to update fields that are required by Facebook
- After updating all fields, scroll down and click submit for review
- And you’re done. Facebook takes about a week to update users on permission request.
Contact Importer
If you already created an app for other plugin, click on apps -> click app name
20.Click on Settings on the left hand side menu
21.Click on Add platform, select Facebook Canvas.
22.Copy urls in installation guide included in the package and paste them in Canvas URL and Secure Canvas URL fields
If you haven’t created any app yet, follow step 1 to 8 and jump to step 23
23. Click on Facebook Canvas
24. Type in app name and click on Create New Facebook App ID
25. Select category and click confirm
26. Copy and paste url in installation guide included in the package into Secure host url field then click next
27. Click next until you see the word “Finished” -> you’re done.
